Waikiki Hyatt Hotel Review - Great Central location on Waikiki Beach

Summary: The Waikiki Hyatt, although across the street from Waikiki Beach, still offers very easy access to it. The rooms were big, the pool was tiny but heated, and the whole bottom three floors are full of shops. I recommend it.

We recently stayed in Waikiki for a week, and this time we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa. The room we stayed in, although I think it was just a standard-sized room, was bigger than most typical hotel rooms we tend to stay in.

The beds were comfortable, and the room was nice. The in-room game system on the TV was horrible. Don’t waste your money on it - the controllers didn’t work very well and the games were all silly. The room was fairly quiet - sometimes we could hear other doors slam in the hallway, but no street noise or anything else.

The Hyatt is located across the street from Waikiki Beach, directly across from the police substation that is the last building directly on the beach. This means that access to the beach is as easy as walking across the street and you are there. You don’t have to find alley access between two buildings like a lot of the other hotels that are across the street. The Hyatt’s location is close to the beach rental booths were you rent a boogie board or line up a surfing instruction. It’s kind of a central location in Waikiki, so the walk to the Waikiki Aquarium and the Honolulu Zoo aren’t bad. The walk the other way to the DFS Galleria or other points that way is also pretty close.

The pool at the Waikiki Hyatt is very small. I was actually surprised at how small it was, but it is heated which was really nice as it tends to get windy in the afternoon. The pool is right next to an outdoor bar and two hot tubs. It’s on the third floor of the hotel.

The hotel’s bottom three floors are full of stores and even a massage place. The bottom floor has a large waterfall and was decorated nicely for christmas when we were there.

Here’s a video of my room and the mountain view.
