The Best Oahu Entertainment

fish by guest writer Chantel

With so many exciting activities to do on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, sometimes it is great to unwind and have someone else entertain you. There is an amazing range of Hawaiian entertainment on the island to choose from. So, where do you start planning and what should you make the time to see? Based on my experience, I recommend the following places to truly enjoy yourself and to find your own “island spirit”.

The Paradise Cove Luau is considered to host one of the best luaus on the whole island, and I second that statement! From their oceanfront location to seeing the beautiful sunset on their beach, Paradise Cove is an ideal spot to enjoy a traditional Hawaiian luau.

You can take part in island games and crafts, try making your own lei and even take hula lessons. Seeing the Hawaiian ancient traditions will make you feel as if you took a step back in time. All the day’s activities start to conclude as the night’s feast and celebrations begin. The delicious selection of luau foods and the awesome entertainment consisting of luau dancers, Hawaiian musicians, and fire-stick dancing make for an exciting and highly entertaining evening.

Just recently, Paradise Cove working in conjunction Ko Olina Ocean Adventures offers a Snorkel by Day and Luau by Night package. You are treated to a three and half ocean adventure before concluding the night at the Paradise Cove luau. good fun.

If you are visiting Oahu during the wintertime, specifically the months of December through February, you should be sure to make a stop along Oahu’s North Shore for the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational, which is held in memory of Eddie Aikau, a famous lifeguard and surfer who was lost at sea.

When the surf is at least twenty feet in height for one consecutive day, the competition is ready to begin. If you are lucky enough, you may even be able spot surfing stars such as Ross Clarke-Jones, Bruce Irons and Kelly Slater. This sporting event makes for awesome entertainment.

At the Polynesian Cultural Center, ‘Ha: Breath of Life’ is a new nightly show held at the center. It is an incredible exhibit of Hawaiian culture and other Pacific island cultures as well. Many of the participants of this show are students of the nearby Brigham Young University displaying their culture in various ways to the audience.

‘Ha: Breath of Life’ is a cultural display and story of the islands consisting of dancers, musicians, various traditional costumes, and ancient chants, all of which convey the island spirit and island tradition to its viewers. This three million dollar show will transform you and make sure you remember the islands for a lifetime to come.

note from Lisa – there is typically a coupon for both the polynesian cultural center and the paradise cove luau. check out this year’s review.

You mentioned about the coupons for PC and PCC. I don’t have the entertainment book for this year, they were all sold out. Is there any other way I can get these?

Yes, check ebay, you can frequently find books there. Also, the 2011 books are out and their coupons are good now, so if these coupons are in the 2011 book then you are good.
