My Favorite Kauai Beaches
May 22nd, 2004

Hanalei Bay Beach
Located on the North Shore of Kauai, Hanalei Bay is a two-mile crescent of perfect white sand. Calm and glassy in summer, but with waves as high as 40 feet in the winter. There is a lifeguard, and restrooms.
Anini Beach
A medium-sized beach with good shade, this is a highly-recommended beach for camping and the crowds are normally smaller than other popular beaches on Kauai. A perfect place for learning how to windsurf on windy days. There are picnic tables, showers, and restrooms.

Anahola Beach
Anahola is a long beach with a protective reef which keeps it fairly calm and good for all sorts of watersports. The corner is considered one of the safest places on the island for kids to swim. There are picnic tables, showers, and restrooms.
Poipu Beach
Usually safe swimming and great snorkeling, even when the north shore is seeing wave action. This is a very popular beach, so it may be crowded though. Picnic tables, showers, restrooms, and pavilions.

Salt Pond Beach Park
An excellent family beach with large lagoons for the kids and minimal crowds. Decent snorkeling, and good windsurfing when the winds are up. Picnic tables, pavilions, showers, restrooms, and a lifeguard.
