Jet Ski in Hilo, Hawaii on the Big Island
Well, as I write this there is no permanent company that I know if that operates jet ski rentals or tours in Hilo bay or anywhere in Hilo. This is unfortunate because Hilo Bay is practically perfect for jet-skiing – protected, huge, and without a lot of boat traffic most of the time. And no swimmers – people don’t really swim in Hilo Bay. It’s kind of muddy at times and supposed to be full of tiger sharks.
Of course, a lot of people don’t want jet skis in Hilo bay – it’s very popular with kayakers and outrigger canoes so jet skis may become a big nuisance if popular.
Some local people do have their own jet skis and take them out occasionally. I have idly considered placing an ad on the Big Island’s Craigslist wanted section asking to use someone’s jet ski for an hour or two for $100 – but I don’t know if that would be successful or not.
