about living there as compared to your former place of residence? What is the worst other than the high cost or "island fever" which are widely acknowledged as downsides. How much money would you give up to live there? In our case we are turning down job offers that would amount to around 100k more income per year between us in Texas (and going to a place with a much higher cost of living). For me this is a no brainer, I practically picked my career based upon its ability to allow me to live in and work in Hawaii. My wife on the other hand is not so convinced, even though she's willing to give it a try for a couple of years.
