Second I have been poor most of my life so financial security is importent to me (especially since I have a kid). I think we can afford to live in Hawaii, but we need to be frugal. I don't want to be "tied" to my job for fear of losing everything. I would rather be in a position of being able to leave Kaiser if I'm not happy there (even if a different job pays less). I am trying to set up as frugal a situation as possible so that I can focus on my family and relearning how to surf. Indeed, one day (if I haven't killed, or maimed myself on the Pipeline as will probably be the case!) I would like to purchase a used sail boat and head for Kribati, Fiji and beyond.

: you won't have time to enjoy Hawaii
:
: time for a reality check
