: : : Hi everyone, we are going to kauai on Saturday and I have some questions for those who have been. Please bare with me. I am wondering if there are any volcanoes on Kauai,or if they are only on the Big Island? Also, are there any animals/poisonous insects we should be aware of if hiking? Are there black or green sand beaches? Any must see/must dos on the island? Thanks so much!! Kit : : There are no active volcanoes on Kauai. Books mention the presence of an occasional centipede or scorpion but I've never seen one. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't THINK there are any blackor green sand beaches on Kauai. : : A must do, since you mentioned hiking, would be the first two miles of the Kalalau Trail...north end of the island where the road ends at Ke'e Beach.
