We stayed at the Pacific Monarch 2 years ago and loved every minute of it. The hotel is well placed near Kuhio beach, International Marketplace, and the bus stops. I liked having key entry in the lobby . The biggest assett for me was the biggest lanai that I had ever seen. At times there were 6 of us all sitting down and still room to get around. The breeze was incredible so we spent every night on the lanai before bed and every morning as you have a coffemaker in the full kitchen in your suite. I have trouble walking and had no trouble getting to Perrys Smorgie ($5 breakfast and $7 dinner) all you can eat AND Dukes ( I can't begin to tell you how nice it is). both restaurants are across from the marketplace. We had a suite on the 6th floor which is the least expensive rooms(limited view) but I didn't want long elavator rides and I like to watch people on the street (it was great).
We would leave our rooms ever morning 4AM and never worried about the walk to the beach (3 minutes and you pass the doorman and valet for the Hyatt on the way.
what can I say if we go again we want to stay there.
