Weather on Oahu will range from low 90s to upper 70s in the winter, mix with rain. It really depends on which part of the island you are on. And it changes as quickly at times. But it won't be to the extreme compare to the mainland. Cost of living is only high depends on where on the mainland you are from. Compare to the SF bay area, Hawaii is "cheap." $1000 seem high, then again, you are in Waikiki. I suggest you look at other places like Makiki, Kaimuki area. It will be cheaper and about 30 mins away. If you do want to live farther, you can find a very nice 1 bd in Ewa Beach for about $700. Ewa is about 1 hr away from Waikiki. Of course there are other places in between like Salt Lake, Aiea, Pearl City etc. Does one get tired? No. I lived there for 25 years. Honolulu is a modern city. Everything you can get on the mainland is there, including traffic. If you want to go on a vacation, there is always the plane. Do you need a car? No. But would be nice. I think the decision would be financial. As for temp agencies, yes there are a few. And all the big names (from the mainland) are there too. An former co-worker for mine used to work as a "head-hunter." I don't know what type of job you are looking for, but if it's clearical or admin, I think it will be ok. If it's professional, then it would take some time - like in any city. Service inudstry is always nice in restaurants or retail while you look for something more stable. Good luck.
