moving to kuaui w/nothing; advice?

: following traumatic breakup in small ski town, im embarking on an epic surf adventure to frech polynesia and my plane ticket terminates in kuaui where i plan to live for at least say half a year. im responsible, not a drifter, just crave the tropics and must just get there by any means possible. i wont have a ton of money left when I get there, is it possible to find a job and a place to live in a reasonable amount of time? anyone familiar with the job situation there? im a waiter by trade and have always done well in this vocation, picking up jobs quickly. ill have full camping ensemble so i wont be shelterless, just a bit nervous (and excited).
