Trip planning

Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me. I'm doing research for a family trip next June, 1 week for sure, and hopefully 10 days. There are six of us - 2 adults, 3 teens and a 7 year old. I (Mom) am the only one that's been and that was to Oahu and Maui 20 years ago. First decision: which island? We are looking for good swimming beach, awesome pool, and some sightseeing. Kids want to snorkel, try surfing, oldest wants to fish. Probably little shopping and limited "partying". After reading lots, I am debating between Oahu and Big Island. We can use either Marriott or Hilton points to pay for lodging. Of course, if we book a Marriott timeshare we will have a kitchen and save on eating out every meal. Can you help me with lodging recommendations?
