Too bad the surf was high for you - Kona is usually pretty mild - but I am glad you had a good time and that is some great advice you gave. I bet you worked off all that restaurant food calories w/ all that snorkeling.

I didn't even know there WERE three person kayaks - thanks for the tip.

Hmmm - I guess I never drank the water in Kona now that I think about it. I hate hotel water so I always buy bottled too or bring my own when I go.

When my husband and I go in the water, if we aren't wearing fins for some reason we wear regular old tennis shoes. Pretty boggy, but provide the best support in the rocks. We usually only do that when we won't be swimming but just catching reef fish for the aquarium or throwing the ball for the dogs.

When I go kayaking I wear reef shoes with hard undersoles - I always go on the Hilo side where everywhere is rocky.
