: One thing I want to add is that, it's important to find a job at first. Any job. Because from my experience and others too, local employers are less likely to call your past employers on the mainland compare to the local ones. Time differences, long distance charge, etc. Therefore it's important to have something local in Hawaii, where you can use as reference or stepping stone to something else.
