The phrase was popularized in numerous recordings - If you would like the words, this site has them.The ancient Hawaiians did not celebrate Christmas, because they had a different religion than the arriving foreigners that brought the concept. Mele Kalikimaka is one of many English words that was "Hawaiianized" - a word that still sounds similar, but conforms to the Hawaiian language alphabet and sound.
