01. --- Try Molokai ---

When you think of Hawaii, do you think of Waikiki? Hawaii Volcanoes National Park? Lahaina? Na Pali Coast? These are all very popular Hawaii attractions on the four major islands …. But what about the island of Molokai? What does it have to offer?

Molokai has long empty beaches, quiet country roads, spectacular sunsets and sunrises (if you want to get up that early), mom and pop stores, simple Hawaiian towns, budget lodging, and all the peace and quiet you could ask for.

Molokai is a small island, with a population of under 7,000. You could drive around the entire island in a couple of hours. To get there, you have to take a small plane that holds only about 20 people from one of the other islands.

On Molokai, you won't find large tour companies or activities that make you wait in line. You will find many outdoor adventures, like horseback riding, or mule tours down to the Kalaupapa peninsula (Father Damien's leper colony). You can experience coastline kayaking, and many golf courses. You might be the only people at the snorkeling hole.

If you really need to get away from it all, Try Molokai.

05. ---Baby Whale Jumps into Boat ---

This is an article that appeared in Friday's Hawaii Tribune Herald - neat yeah? (except for the broken bone)

"Port Allen, Hawaii -- A 20 foot baby whale suddenly surfaced and leaped onto the back of a whale watching boat, breaking the knee of a woman passenger, the tour company's owner said Wednesday. *name omitted*, a tourist, was sitting in the rearmost seats on the 40-foot power catamaran on Tuesday when the 15-ton whale came up and shoved its head over the back transom, said Doug Phillips, co-owner of Na Pali Eco adventures.

The yearling slipped back in the water and swam away.

*name ommited* was taken to West Kauai Medical Center where she was admitted into satisfactory condition. Hospital officials said she asked that no other information be released. *name ommited* hometown was not disclosed.

The Hokua had stopped and the passengers were eating when the whale come into the area and breached about 75 yards away, Phillips said. Moments later, it came up onto the back of the boat, he said. "Normally whales will keep their distance when they hear the engine," Phillips said. "But juvenile whales are pretty high strung and they don't know much yet." "

How's that for a close encounter!!!!!!!!!!!!
