Online Flight Services

Online Flight Services

You are probably already a savvy Internet user. You know the Internet is the technology of our age that allows us to access the world from our desktop computer. Hopefully you also know that there are as many problems and things to beware of on the Internet as there are innovations.

You have a choice in planning your trip to Hawaii to exploit the power of the Internet to its fullest extent - knowing more before you go than ever possible before, and possibly making your plans much easier and less expensive. You also have a duty to yourself to know the risks involved in this process. I will try and explain the larger online services, and point out their risks and caveats - but you must also actively seek to fully understand any program you use to lessen the risk to yourself.

In the last few years many travel agencies have been putting their services on the Internet, and there has also been the birth of many new kinds of travel services, only available because of the power of the Internet. I have spent the last few months exploring these systems, and I will provide my findings over the next few pages.

Another option you have online is buying from the airlines directly. Although this is usually a good way to get an expensive ticket - buying direct online can sometimes get you great savings. Almost all the major airlines have an online specials page that provide really cheap flights, and if you buy from the airlines your liability is normally limited.

My suggestion is to sit down at your computer with a pad of paper and a pen and search a few of the sites located on the next page. Plan to spend a few hours or days on this ... your vacation is worth it. Familiarize yourself with the process of online flight searches, get a feel for the prices available, write down a baseline price and and good prices you find (don't forget to write down or bookmark where you found the good prices), search the site of an airline you may have frequent flyer miles with ... and just get a general knowledge of what is out there. Then, try some of the travel agents sites ... see how their prices are and search the auctions and consolidators too - just to find all the good deals. My guess is you will find a room and car package or a room and air package that will best meet your needs, probably with a travel agent. Make sure you feel comfortable with anyone you book with, and consider travel insurance if you're just not sure.
