Free sights and attractions on MauiLahaina Town Lahaina used to be a whaling town – and it certainly is unique to look at. The historical sites here are numerous - not to mention the shopping. Friday night is Art Night (free) on Front Street, sponsored by the Lahaina Arts Society. Maui Arts and Cultural Center One Cameron Way, Kahului Performing arts complex featuring hula exhibits, theater, exhibits and more. Exhibits are free. Lahaina Center Activities 900 Front St., Lahaina Free hula lessons, craft making, hula shows, replica of a Hawaiian Village and general cultural tours. Lahaina Whaling Museum Lahaina, at crazy shirts Lawless days and ways from the whaling era revived through artifacts. Whale Watching During December to May, all of Hawaii's waters are full of humpback whales but Maui has always been known as the best island for whale-watching. You can see them from most shores easily enough – try the Pali Lookout on Hwy 3- between Wailuku and Lahaina. Oheo Gulch (more commonly referred to as The Seven Sacred Pools) Kipahulu - near Hana These are a series of falls cascading into several large pools before reaching the sea providing great swimming and sightseeing opportunities - an excellent example of what people come to Hawaii for. Wai'anapanapa State Park In Hana at end of Wai'anapanapa Road If you make it to Hana, be sure and check out this fantastic beach park with its great views and many activities. 'Iao Valley End of 'Iao Valley Road (Highway 32) Dramatic valley featuring Iao Needle. Haleki'i-Pihana Heiau In Wailuku at end of Hea Place off Kuhio Place from Waiehu Beach Road (Highway 340). 10 acres protecting the remains of two historical and cultural heiaus (temples) used as war temples. Good views of central Maui. Banyan Tree Park Lahaina at the beginning of front street. You've never seen a tree like this before. It is so big it shades almost an entire acre of land. Whale Center of the Pacific Whalers Village Shopping Center, 2435 Ka'anapali Parkway, Ka'anapali Two museums featuring educational exhibits and whale skulls and skeletons.
