Buy the 2009 Entertainment savings Book here - type Honolulu, HI into the search box on the next page.

The 2009 book is currently being sold - the discount coupons are good from NOW till November 2009.

The book has coupons for all the major islands: the most for Oahu, 2nd most for Maui, then the Big Island, then Kauai.

I live on the Big Island, but I still buy the book every year because I ALWAYS make more than my money back easily just by using one to two coupons.

Someone visiting Hawaii for a week or two could easily save over $300 using these coupons for food and activities.

I bought the book online
I have bought the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Hawaii book online, following the same link you would: The 2009 Entertainment savings Book - type Honolulu, HI into the search box on the next page.

The Offers

First off is the Save $20 at Safeway coupon - this is actually 4 coupons, each quarter of the year you can get $5 off a $50 shopping trip. Not so awesome for visitors but pretty cool for locals. I like to take this coupon out of the book and use it all year, saving my $20, then sell the book on Ebay for about what I bought it for (sharing the fact that I took these coupons out of course). If you wait until the books are sold out (sometime in the late spring usually) and then sell your partially used book on Ebay you can *really* make your money back and then some :) unless you used the heck out of it and then you might not be able to sell it for much - in which case you got more than your money back anyway.

Next is a new offer - 4 coupons from the Chart House Waikiki. $20 off a purchase of $80 (excluding tax, tip, and alcohol), then $15 off $60, then $10 off $40, then $5 off 20. That’s nice - good coupon for hawaii locals too :)

Next is a Chilis coupon - $5 off $20, excluding tax, tip, and alcohol. Chilis is only on Oahu, but there are 5 of them there.

Next is Papa Johns offers - four of them. The best seems to be Buy One Get One Free large pizza. Papa Johns is also only on Oahu.

Next is Polynesian Adventure Tours’ two coupons for half off a second ticket for any land tour on Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai and 2 10% off a fly away tour for any island.

Next is something new and nice - $10 off your next entertainment book. Nice for me as I buy one every year and as sson as they come out usually. Entertainment has various deals throughout the selling year and if you wait till spring you can get a book for $10 usually but if you wait too long they might sell out - so I just buy mine as soon as they start selling them and this will be a nice way to save money on it.

Retail and Services

This section is really growing - a lot of it is national, and plenty of offers are on Oahu. Most of these offers in Hawaii would be for locals - stuff like 15% off at Sports Authority and 10% back at Circuit City of 20% off regular price of an item up to $100 at Honolulu Furniture Antiques and Gallery.

Leave Honolulu, Hi in the search box no matter which island you will be visiting and hit search to go directly to the Hawaii book

So what has your experience with the Hawaii Entertainment book been like? Did you save money? Did you use a lot of the coupons? Leave me a comment - I’d love to hear from you.

I just received this question on the book:

Thank you for your great review of the 2009 Entertainment book. I would really like to know if there is a discount page for Waimea Plantation Cottages on Kauai. We go there often and the desk clerk said that’s the best way to save but I don’t want to buy the book if that particular value doesn’t appear.

    and I said:

Yes, Waimea Plantation Cottages is listed under the Direct to Hotel Program where you identify yourself as an Entertainment member, book your rate of ‘up to 50% off rack rates’ and then present your Entertainment card on check in. Just so you know though, the hotels sometimes only offer so many of these types of specials at a time and once they sell out, you will be told there aren’t any available.

Are there enough restaurants on Maui to merit purchase? What activities/entertainment would there be? That’s the only island we’re visiting. We’ll be there late Oct, early Nov.

Thanks for your review. On tripadvisor I found several references on coupon book for PCC - is there a coupon for the poly. cult. center in 2009?

Besides polyad - are there any other tour companies covered? We’ll be visiting in April - and plan to go to Oahu, Hawaii and Mauii

Great idea about selling on ebay - thanks!

  5. 5 lisa 16 December 2008 @ 7:13 pm

Yes, there is a buy one get one free coupon for the Polynesian Cultural Center. Up to $43 value. There are no other major tour companies represented but there are a few smaller ones.

  6. 6 Chandi 17 December 2008 @ 1:44 pm

Are the coupons in the book good for the entire year of 2009? They are not month specific? Example only good for the month of July 09.

  7. 7 lisa 17 December 2008 @ 2:44 pm

The coupons are normally good from the day the book is first sold (usually sometime in the fall of the year before) till November 1st of the Year of.

Practically all of the coupons in the 2009 book say ‘good till November 1, 2009′ and I just saw a car rental one that said ‘good till July 10, 2010′.

What does a luau usually cost per person or couple? Does this book offer a price list of things to do, excursions, etc?

  9. 9 lisa 22 December 2008 @ 3:58 pm

Well, a luau with show and food can cost as little as $60 to $70 per person .. or more. The book does not offer a price list, but does offer an index for dining, fast food, activities, etc.

  10. 10 Rachel 6 January 2009 @ 11:19 am

  13. 13 Linda 11 January 2009 @ 2:36 am

Are there enough coupons for Kauai in the book to make it worthwhile? Thanks for the input… it was very helpful. :)

  20. 20 Helena 12 April 2009 @ 7:28 pm

    Hi Lisa,
I just bought a book since our family will be going to Hawaii the beginning of May. I noticed the coupon for the Polynesian Cultural Center is 2-for-1 adult general admission. Would I need another coupon for my 2 children under the age of 11? I don’t really want to buy another book just for that. Any suggestions? Any other place to find a discount? Thanks.

  21. 21 lisa 13 April 2009 @ 4:20 am

Hi Helena, well, it would seem buying another book will not help you since it is an adult admission coupon. I don’t know of another place to find a discount, but when you get to Oahu just look through the vistor guides you’ll find at the airport or anywhere. You very well could find one.

  22. 22 confused 22 May 2009 @ 8:50 pm

Hello, I have read in a few of the blogs here that there are coupons for the Polyn. Cultural center and for Royal Lahaina Luau. I just ordered the Hawaii book per your suggestion and the listing of available coupons I get doesn’t list either one of those. Could there be a difference in the books? This one is the only one for Hawaii for 2009. Thanks for your time.

  23. 23 lisa 23 May 2009 @ 1:49 am

the polynesian cultural center is page E18 and the Royal Lahaina Luau is page B23.

  24. 24 confused 2 June 2009 @ 10:06 am

    Hello Lisa,
Got the book in the mail and the coupons are EXACTLY as you said! Thanks for the awesome tip. We will be using both of those for sure and probably more! Aloha

  25. 25 Hawaii Car Rental Coupons and Rental Coupon Codes 24 June 2009 @ 6:25 pm

[...] Entertainment Book always seems to have car rental coupons. I do a review of the Hawaii one every year here. Examples are: Save $25 on a weekly rental. Free double upgrade. 10% off standard daily rates. $20 [...]

  26. 26 Margaret 25 June 2009 @ 5:48 pm

Is the 2 for 1 coupon for the Polynesian Cultural Center good for the Ambassador level the one that includes the Lu’au and guided tour, etc.

  27. 27 lisa 26 June 2009 @ 12:52 am

I’m not sure. It doesn’t say. The value is up to $43 and it just says good for admission. My guess would be no.

  28. 28 Lisa 4 July 2009 @ 1:44 pm

I just bought the Hawaii 2009 book for $9.99 (plus shipping)without having to order the 2010. Just look for the small print under the picture of the book on the left-hand side of the page where the new “deal” is offered.
