Let me tell you about the Hawaii Entertainment Book. I buy it every year.

The 2009 book is currently being sold - the discount coupons are good from NOW till November 2009.

The book has coupons for all the major islands: the most for Oahu, 2nd most for Maui, then the Big Island, then Kauai.

I live on the Big Island, but I still buy the book every year because I ALWAYS make more than my money back easily just by using one to two coupons.

Someone visiting Hawaii for a week or two could easily save over $300 using these coupons for food and activities.

Imagine cutting $300 off your food and activity budget! You could go Parasailing twice or more with that, or rent a surfboard every day, or upgrade to the convertible, or rent 2 jet skis!

And then, when you return home, there are plenty of National Coupons that could save you money all year long.

2008 Entertainment Book Coupons are good till November in most cases, but the 2009 books are here and good now also! Here’s my review!

I bought the book online

The Offers

First off is the Save $20 at Safeway coupon - this is actually 4 coupons, each quarter of the year you can get $5 off a $50 shopping trip. Not so awesome for visitors but pretty cool for locals. I like to take this coupon out of the book and use it all year, saving my $20, then sell the book on Ebay for about what I bought it for (sharing the fact that I took these coupons out of course). If you wait until the books are sold out (sometime in the late spring usually) and then sell your partially used book on Ebay you can *really* make your money back and then some unless you used the heck out of it and then you might not be able to sell it for much - in which case you got more than your money back anyway.

Next is a new offer - 4 coupons from the Chart House Waikiki. $20 off a purchase of $80 (excluding tax, tip, and alcohol), then $15 off $60, then $10 off $40, then $5 off 20. That’s nice - good coupon for hawaii locals too

Next is a Chilis coupon - $5 off $20, excluding tax, tip, and alcohol. Chilis is only on Oahu, but there are 5 of them there.

Next is Papa Johns offers - four of them. The best seems to be Buy One Get One Free large pizza. Papa Johns is also only on Oahu.

Next is Polynesian Adventure Tours’ two coupons for half off a second ticket for any land tour on Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai and 2 10% off a fly away tour for any island.

Next is something new and nice - $10 off your next entertainment book. Nice for me as I buy one every year and as sson as they come out usually. Entertainment has various deals throughout the selling year and if you wait till spring you can get a book for $10 usually but if you wait too long they might sell out - so I just buy mine as soon as they start selling them and this will be a nice way to save money on it.

Dining Out
over 24 offers, 1 on the Big Island, 7 on Maui, 18 on Oahu.

Examples are 25% off Breakfast or Brunch Buffet at Pagoda Floating restaurant in Honolulu, Buy one get one free dinner entree up to $22.00 at Tanaka of Tokyo in Waikiki and Honolulu, Buy one get one free lunch or dinner at Lulu’s in Kailua, Kona, and 25% off dinner luau for up to 4 people at Royal Lahaina Luau.

Casual and Family Dining
over 50 offers, 6 on the Big Island, 9 on Maui, 1 on Molokai, and the rest on Oahu.

Examples are Buy one Large get one medium free pizza at Pizza hut, Buy One get one free lunch or dinner at Stopwatch Sportsbar and Grill in Makawao up to $10, Buy one get one free at Kona Katch Kafe in Kailua-Kona up to $8, Buy one get one free entree at Dreamers home style cafe up to $8 in Honolulu, and buy one get one free entree at Holimoli’s Hawaiian plate luch up to $10 in Honolulu,

Fast food and Carryout
over 26 offers, 9 on multiple islands, one on the Big Island, 2 on Maui, and the rest on Oahu

Examples are Buy one get one free loaf of bread at Great Harvest Bread Co in Honolulu and Kailua up to $5, buy one get one free menu item at Maui Coffee roasters, buy one get one free dazzler frozen dessert at Haagen Dazs on Maui and Oahu, and buy one get one free menu item at Planet Smoothie on Oahu.

Entertainment and Sports
over 27 offers, 1 on Kauai, 4 on Maui, 2 on the Big Island, and the rest on Oahu.

Examples are A-1 tours on Oahu, $100 off skydiving tandem jump, 50% off one helicopter tour, half off jetski or parasail or scuba diving or snorkeling - hmm, nice coupon. 4 coupons like $10 off game play with purchase of $10 at Dave and Busters on Oahu, $15 off a yurt rental at Camp Timberline on Oahu, $7 off adult admission to Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park or $5 off kids for up to 4 people, 25% off Air Kauai Helicopter tour for up to 6 people, half off a weekly snorkel rental at Maui Boss Frogs, and Buy one get one free adult cruise on Body glove cruises in Kailua-Kona.

Travel and Hotels
over 40 offers, not exlusively Hawaii

Examples are American Airlines, 5% off any fare worldwide for up to 6 passengers, Avis $25 off a weekly rental, a free weekend day, free upgrades, Coupons for Budget Car rental, Hertz, $50 off vacation deals at cheaptickets, $50 or $200 off vacation deals at orbitz, more money off for longer stays.

Many hotel programs, like up to 20% off Hotel chains like Days Inn and Econolodge (almost none of these in Hawaii), guaranteed best rate with rebates, and Direct to Hotel deals.

Retail and Services

This section is really growing - a lot of it is national, and plenty of offers are on Oahu. Most of these offers in Hawaii would be for locals - stuff like 15% off at Sports Authority and 10% back at Circuit City of 20% off regular price of an item up to $100 at Honolulu Furniture Antiques and Gallery.
