Hawaii is paradise, and it’s just natural that a lot of people dream of living in Paradise. Many people in the mainland, especially people fed up with the snow and cold of the more northern states , dream of moving here for the constantly mild weather. It is nice, I’ve lived here for over a decade as I write this and the weather is definitely my favorite thing. I remember growing up in Northern Illinois and in the summer it was too, too hot and in the winter it was so cold you were in danger of freezing to death, and spring and autumn lasted for about two days. That sucked.

There are downsides - stuff is expensive, to see family on the mainland you *have* to fly minimum 5 hours. People get rock fever. Jobs don’t pay as well as mainland-counterparts. Your kids could be in schools where the teachers speak pidgin. White people are sometimes discriminated against. … and on and on.

So let’s talk about it!
