Oahu is expanding beyond what anyone ever imagined 50, 20, and even 5 years ago. Everytime I go (about once or twice a year) there are more cars on the road, more people on the streets, and more buildings going up. Sometimes I wonder if the island will just collapse into the ocean with all that concrete, car, and people weight on it. It is sad in some places. Here are all these people living in paradise and missing it because they are sitting in their car commuting for 3 hours a day. Here are all these other people visiting and expecting to see wide-open, tropical spaces and instead they find a big city with big city noise, crime, space, crowding, traffic and pollution problems. That’s Honolulu. There are plenty of historical attractions on the island, Waikiki Beach is really very nice, and there are still relaxed places outside of Honolulu. Take the good and avoid the bad I guess.
