Big Island Kayak Rentals and Tours – Hilo and Kona Kayaking

No rivers on the Big Island to kayak on – all kayaking will be done in the ocean from the shore. We have some awesome views and adventures!

Hawaii Pack and Paddle – Kayaking, hiking, and camping tours. One day, four day, or week-long paddling and hiking camping trips. Located in South Kona. For adventurers!

Kona Boys – Kayak Rentals above Kealakekua Bay plus group tours, private tours, snorkel tours, and overnight kayak trips. Possibly your best chance in all of Hawaii to get within a few feet of dolphins!

Ocean Safari Kayak Adventures – Keauhou Sea cave tour, dolphin quest tour, and whale watch tour. Looks like a really friendly family of tour operators.

Aloha Kayak Co – Kona coast kayak tours and rentals. They have glass kayaks! wow!

Adventures in Paradise – Kayak and boat tours around Kona.

As for kayaking in Hilo, if you stop here on a cruise, you should have kayaks offered to you as part of your shore excursion, but other than that there is nowhere currently to rent kayaks that I know of. Maybe someone will start a rental place soon and leave me a comment here.

Please, share your big island kayaking stories, companies, links, or reviews. thanks!

We’re planning a week in Kapoho in September and I am wondering if there are kayak rentals available in the area. Would it be possible to rent on a weekly rate? Is it possible to have a kayak delivered to a residence on Kapoho bay? We’ll be driving a rented convertible which may not be suitable for transporting a kayak even for a short distance.

Hi Jim, as far as I know, no one rents kayaks in or near Kapoho – not even in Hilo or anywhere in Puna. I would think your best bet would be to look around when you get there, or maybe before and try to find a vacation rental or bed and breakfast owner that would be willing to rent you one for a bit. here’s one I found online: http://www.findrentals.com/21285.html Have a great vacation!
