Big Island of Hawaii Car Rental in Hilo and Kailua-Kona with Discounts

On the Big Island of Hawaii, typically you will be renting a car in Hilo or Kailua-Kona as you arrive at the airport. Many resorts and some hotels also offer to rent you a car with a certain company and if you are coming in on a cruise, most car rental companies will come and pick you up at the pier.

Other Hilo Car Rental Options
Harpers Rental Cars for 4 wheel drives and motor homes. Harper’s is one of the few companies on the Big Island that will let you drive over the saddle road in their rental cars. And on this page is a link to two local companies that will rent you cars long or possibly short term in Hilo.

There is an airport in Waimea – the Waimea-Kohala airport but it’s a small plane airport and you can’t rent cars there. There is no other place on the Big Island to rent cars besides Hilo and Kailua-Kona … and the resorts in Kohala will get you to a car if you want one.
