questionI hope that you can help me with this. My friend is a native hawaiian and she is having her first baby. I am giving her a baby shower at work and I would like to recognize her hawaiian heritage. Are there any baby shower traditions that I can implement. By the way she is having a girl and the baby shower is at the end of this month (Sept. 28 )
Thanks for you help
answerSorry, I don't know for sure - I have never heard of anything that stands out. I am not Hawaiian, but I can tell you that the baby showers I have been to here in Hawaii, with Hawaiians, have not been any different than baby showers on the mainland. (I am assuming you are on the mainland) You could honor her with a
lei on her baby shower day - you can order them online and have them delivered to you. Or you could go with a Hawaiian themed party ... but ordering a lei would probably be the simplest and most tactful and beautiful. If she ever lived in Hawaii she probably got leis at every special occasion in her life (graduation, major birthdays) and it could be something she misses.
